Panasonic has introduced the Toughbook S9, the world’s lightest 12.1-inch laptop with an integrated DVD drive. The Panasonic Toughbook S9 can handle up to a 30″ drop thanks to its tough magnesium alloy case and shock-mounted flex-connect hard drive.
The Panasonic Toughbook S9 is powered by a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5-520M vPro processor (up to 2.93 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost), a 12.1-inch LED backlit display with resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, a 320GB hard drive with shock-mounted flex-connect, 2GB DDR3 RAM (up to 6GB), a DVD Super Multi, and up to 11 hours of battery life with a standard battery and weighing only 3.0 pounds.
Other specifications include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, optional Gobi2000 mobile broadband technology, HDMI and VGA, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, an integrated GPS, Intel Anti-Theft technology, a cable lock slot, password security and an optional fingerprint reader.
The Panasonic Toughbook S9 is available in the United States at an estimated street price of $2,499 from authorized Panasonic resellers and distributors.
