Lenovo has unveiled a new ultrathin laptop in China, called ThinkPad X230s. It has a case made of carbon fiber, a weight of just 1.28kg (2.8 pounds) and a minimum thickness of 17.7mm (0.7 inches).

The new Lenovo ThinkPad X230s laptop is powered by an Intel Core i7 central processing unit, 8GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive or 240GB solid state drive.

Other specifications include a 12.5-inch LED backlit display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, a 720p webcam, fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, two USB 3.0, VGA and Mini DisplayPort ports. Its pre-loaded with Windows 8 OS.

Cost of Lenovo ThinkPad X230s laptop is around 7,399 Yuan (about $1,200).

Asus has started selling the U46 ultrathin laptop in the UK, which is less than 1-inch thick with durable spun aluminum covers and brushed champagne-colored metal.

The new Asus U46 laptop is powered by a 2nd generation Intel Core i5 processor, up to 8GB RAM, upto 750GB hard drive (7200 rpm), and Intel HD 3000 integrated or nVidia GeForce GT450M graphics with 1GB of GDDR3 video memory.

The Asus U46 laptop is equipped with a 14-inch dispaly, a 0.3-megapixels camera, USB 3.0 port, single HDMI output, and optional Bluetooth 3.0. Its pack a 8-cell 5900mAh battery for up to 10 hours per charge.

The Asus U46 ultrathin laptop is available in the UK for price tag of £699 (excluding VAT).

Sony has official announced its Vaio Z Series laptop, the new VAIO Z Series is created for mobile professionals, ultra-desirable styling, premium carbon fibre with no-compromise specifications and innovative productivity features.

At just below 1.2kg and 16.65mm slim, the new Sony VAIO Z laptop is powered by a 2.7GHz Intel Core i7-2620M processor, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, 256GB of solid state drive, and Intel HD 3000 graphics.

The VAIO Z Series equipped with a 13.1-inch display with a resolution of 1600 x 900 or 1920 x 1080 pixels, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, 3G, fingerprint reader, USB 3.0 port, HDMI port and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. It is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1 OS.

The laptop’s internal lithium polymer battery provides power for up to 7 hours on-the-go computing, while the optional sheet battery boosting stamina to up to 14 hours for day-and-night working.

Dell Online Store has reduced the Adamo 13 ultra-thin laptop from $999 to $799. The Dell Adamo 13 features a 1.4GHz Core Duo 2 SU9400 Intel processor, 2GB of DDR3-800 memory, 128GB solid-state drive and Intel GS45 integrated graphics.

Asus has announced the U series  ultrathin laptop will start shipping in the European markets in December. The Asus U series laptop comes in two models, the Asus U31F and Asus U31JG.

The Asus U31F is equipped with the Intel GMA 4500M graphics, while the Asus U31JG includes the nVidia GeForce GT 415M discrete graphics card with 1GB of dedicated memory that support nVidia Optimus.

Both models feature the Intel Core i3-370M, Core i3-380m, Core i5-460m processor, a 320/500/640GB hard drive, up to 8GB of RAM, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, optional Bluetooth 2.1, a 0.3 megapixel webcam, a 3-in-1 card reader, Altec Lansing speakers, and a 6- or 8-cell battery.

Asus has announced the new U36 ultra-portable notebook, featuring a 13.3-inch display with resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, an Intel Core i3 or i5 processor, a dual-heatpipe cooler, and has a aluminum magnesium alloy shell just 19mm thick and weight 1.44kg.

There are other features which includes an nVidia Optimus technology that automatically switch between integrated graphics and dedicated graphics card, and a 4-cell battery can provide up to 10 hours of operation.

There is no word on pricing or release date of Asus U36 notebook.
