Dell has announced new XPS 17 and Alienware M17 laptops with the 2nd Generation Intel Core “Sandy Bridge” processors.

The Dell XPS 17 features an Intel Core i3/i5/i7 CPU (the i7 builds will include WiDi support), a WLED display – up to 1080p (3D panel is optional), a chiclet keyboard, an Nvidia GeForce 500M series graphics card, JBL speakers, and a Skype HD-ready webcam.

The Dell Alienware M17x rev 3 comes with an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, a WLED-backlit 120Hz display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, Wireless HD, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M 1.5GB or AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1/2GB graphics card.

Asus has announced the G53SW and G73SW gaming laptops, featuring 2nd Generation Intel Core “Sandy Bridge” processor, which are powered by the Intel Core i7-2630QM quad-core CPU with a base clock of 2.0 GHz which can go up via Turbo Boost.

The 17.3-inch G73SW and 15.6-inch G53SW models come with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M 1.5GB graphics card, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, up to two Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drives of 500 GB, DVD writer or Blu-ray, USB 3.0, and WiFi b/g/n.

The Asus G73SW will sell for a starting price of $2516 to $2714, while the G53SW begins at $1,300.

Dell has just upgrades the Alienware M15x gaming laptop with 1.5GB NVIDIA GTX 460 dedicated graphics. The Dell Alienware M15x is now available in select European and Asian countries.

Dell Alienware M15x is powered by an Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor, up to 8GB DDR3 1066/1333MHz, up two slots and SATA hard drives or SSDs, a 15.6-inch LED WXGA 1600 × 900 or WUXGA Full HD 1920 × 1080 display.

Other notable specifications includes an integrated 2.0 megapixel web camera, Blu-Ray or a DVD burner, a 8in1 card reader, 5.1 audio system, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DisplayPort, VGA, Firewire 400, ExpressCard54, Gigabit Ethernet and 3 USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA.

The Dell Alienware M15x original version is £999 (Nvidia GeForce 240M) will need to spend £205 more to add a GeForce GTX 460m.
