I-O Data has unveiled a portable Blu-ray BDXL burner in the Japanese market, called the BRP-U6X. The I-O Data BRP-U6X feature a slim design (20mm thick), weights 320 grams, and a USB 2.0 connectivity.

The I-O Data BRP-U6X is capable of write speeds of up to 6x for BD-R (single- and dual-layer), 4x for 3/4-layer BD-R, 2x for BD-RE, 8x for DVD-R/+R and DVD+RW, 6x for DVD-R/+R DL and DVD-RW, 5x for DVD-RAM, 24x for CD-R and 16x for CD-RW. It also can burn 128GB BDXL discs at a speed of 4X.

The I-O Data BRP-U6X will be available in Japan at the end of April for costs $270.

LaCie has introduced its portable external Blu-Ray writer, namely LaCie Slim Blu-ray. It is records, rewrites, and plays back high definition (HD) video. You don’t need an AC adapter, since it’s bus-powered, which enhances convenience.

This Blu-Ray writer is support write speeds to a BD-R at 6x (dual-layer at 4x), a BD-RE at 2x and a blank DVD at 8x. The LaCie Slim Blu-ray burner has dimension of 137x157x25 mm (WxHxD) and weight 320g.

LaCie Slim Blu-ray is packed with a two-year warranty and priced at $264.99.

The BRP-U6 will be available in Japan this December and priced at $265.
