Asus has started selling the U46 ultrathin laptop in the UK, which is less than 1-inch thick with durable spun aluminum covers and brushed champagne-colored metal.

The new Asus U46 laptop is powered by a 2nd generation Intel Core i5 processor, up to 8GB RAM, upto 750GB hard drive (7200 rpm), and Intel HD 3000 integrated or nVidia GeForce GT450M graphics with 1GB of GDDR3 video memory.

The Asus U46 laptop is equipped with a 14-inch dispaly, a 0.3-megapixels camera, USB 3.0 port, single HDMI output, and optional Bluetooth 3.0. Its pack a 8-cell 5900mAh battery for up to 10 hours per charge.

The Asus U46 ultrathin laptop is available in the UK for price tag of £699 (excluding VAT).

Asus has released the new U Series laptop in European market, called the U46SV. This U46SV ultra-thin laptop is based on Intel’s Huron River platform, also features a hinge-forward design with an aluminum chassis, and a lovely champagne color.

The Asus U46SV laptop is is powered by a 2.3GHz Intel Core i5-2410M processor, 4GB/6GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and  a GeForce GT 540M graphics card with 1GB of memory and Optimus support. It packs a 14-inch LED-backlit display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixel, a DVD burner, a 0.3 megapixel webcam, and an 8-cell battery

Other specifications include a 4-in-1 card reader, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, VGA and HDMI output, and one USB 3.0 port. The U46SV is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit  OS.

Prices of Asus U46SV with 4GB memory is €779 and €799 for 6GB RAM.

Asus has officially introduced two new U Series laptops, called the U46 (14-inch) and the U56 (15-inch). The Both new models are design with ultra-thin, light and measures only an inch thick.

The Asus U46 Series lineup includes the U46SV and U46E. All two models feature up to Intel Core i5 2520M CPU, up to 8GB DDR3 memory, and up to 750GB hard drive. The U46SV have NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M graphics options, while the U46E packs an Intel GMA HD graphics GPU.

The Asus U56 laptops is powered by a 2nd generation standard voltage Intel Core processors, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M discrete graphics with 1GB of VRAM, and up to 8GB of DDR3 memory.

The Asus U46 and U56 laptops feature a 0.3MP webcam, a DVD optical drive, a webcam, LAN, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, card reader, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, VGA, HDMI, and 4/8 cell battery. Its operating system is Windows 7.
